Local historian Brad
Hayes, a frequent contributor to Chattooga Photo History, kindly shared
the following photograph and information:
The
three ladies marked with an "X" are my three great aunts, "the Three
Hayes Sisters." They are, left to right: Jessie Lee Hayes Harris,
Lucile Hayes Henderson, and Annie Ruth Hayes Pettyjohn. The supervisor
sitting behind the desk is Howard Clifton.
Their oldest brother
was Ernest "Bud" Eugene Hayes, my late grandfather. My
greatgrandparents, Geoffrey C. and Minnie Mae Evans Hayes, had eleven
children. The first three died as infants. The others were Ernest,
Lucile,Annie Ruth, Johnny, Dealver, Billy, Jessie Lee, and Roger.
