Georgia
Rug Mill on Highway 48 just inside the Summerville city limits has been
demolished, but you can tell from this photograph how large a facility
it once was. Near the top left sits the newly constructed Chattooga
High School which dates this photograph to around 1965. As of this
writing, the school building shown here will soon be replaced and meet
the same fate as Georgia Rug Mill.
(Do you remember how the
mill installed Christmas lights from the top of the water tower to the
ground to mimic a Christmas tree?)
